I have no carrying case for mine...but I DO have the battery pack, intact EXCEPT for the batteries--missing. . A couple of SLA batteries would work fine in it. Probably a pair of 6V 5-8AH SLA's would go fine.

Ok....the FIRST thing you need to do....is to see if your MINUS 12 volt supply (this set has a POSITIVE ground--since it of all PNP topology--even the H-out) is there and correct.
Go to that big transistor on the big sink--right side of set--looking from rear. From ground--you should see a negative 12 volts on the collector when the power is turned on. (one thing to remember...this set does NOT switch the primary of the power tranny off--it has voltage all timers when the set is plugged in--but there is NO instant-on ckt). if it is NOT there--check the emitter of the transistor--and see if -15 volts or such is there. If NOT_-perhaps there is a problem with Q-25 or Q-24 (these are labelled as "x" as per the old same nomenclature). both of these are up front on the chassis, left side--near the V-out trans. There is also a zener--x24, off of the emitter of x25, the error amp--that could be shorted. It appears to be a 6.5 volt zener. The CATHODE of it goes to the emitter--NOT the anode--since this is a - supply. If the -12 volt supply is there....go to the power switch ans see if it is going through that. There are two sections--one has the battery supply on it=--the other out of the rectifiers. If ok here ...go to that fuse by the HV cage. It should be on that--both sides. If all that is ok...(and i expect that is will NOT all be ok--if you are getting NO sign of power..Make SURE the ac/dc switch on back has not gotten all gummed up or such. this is by the battery connector--and looks like it interrupts ground path. It goes into "dc" mode--while the power plug is inserted into it. Somewhere--you will find an open ckt. BTW_-that big black cap o bottom is 4000 uf--so a 4700/25 would work fine for that one. I also have one of these sets. Mine is still dirty from decades of being kept in a garage, but has no damage. Missing one knob when I got it during an estate sale. Paid $2 for it!

Andy, my set was dead also.. Ended up being an open Damper diode. It's been working fine since I repaired it in 2007.
