Transporting a CTC16XL
Hi All,
I am looking at a RCA CTC16XL in a nice solid wood cabinet that I believe has fixed, non-removable legs. The question I have is this: I can probably fit the set in the back of my Jeep Commander, but it will be a tight squeeze to get it in the back of the vehicle standing it on its legs. Would it be safe to flip the set and put it in the vehicle with the flat top of the cabinet on the bottom and the legs facing up? Thanks for any advice!

I put mine face down on a blanket. Remember to remove the knobs first. The sets are pretty top heavy.

Thank you again for the advice and the great information! PS any opinions on the RCA CTC16XL chassis for a new guy? I know the cabinet that houses the one I am looking at is attractive - a nice mid 60s period looking piece, nothing too gaudy about it, and in very nice shape!

Thats EXACTLTY what you want to do. The screen is generally the strongest part of the set, and also the heaviest. You want the heaviest part down to prevent damage. Be sure once the knobs are off that if anything is sticking out the front that you block up or pad appropriately to prevent damage. John |

I safely transported my CTC-11 lying face down (with all knobs removed) on a thick layer of old carpet and quilts.
