Westinghouse H840CK15

I've been collecting radios and televisions for a while and talk frequently with several collectors around the country. Pete has a great site on the CT100 and there is a lot of interest in this model. What I can't find is information on the H840CK15, like how many still exist. I've heard a few numbers tossed around. Is there enough interest in this model to set up a site devoted to it like Pete's CT100 site? I'd like to know what other collectors think. The cabinet s/n on my CT100 is 663. My 840 s/n is MW006012.

Fred,

If all the known H840CK15 owners participated in a dedicated website you'd have less than 10 members I think. What is the chassis number of your H840? It is on a paper tag on the chassis rear, right side facing the back. Mine is ME 000275. The number you quoted I believe is printed on the removeable back cover and my set has no back cover unfortunately. I recall a number on the mumetal CRT shield on the top ahead of the yoke. I should go check what this one is.

Rob

That's what I thought. The number of sets I have heard that exist is 8. Probably not enough to support a site. I can gather bits of information and add them to my H840 page that I will have on my site shortly. My chassis number is M000819. I don't know what the s/n is on my spare chassis.

Yes, I do have a spare chassis. I got it with the complete set. Don't they all come with a spare? It's for parts to get my set working.
I know of 4 H840CK15s. If anyone has an 840 please email me or repsond to this thread.

Rear view of H840CK15 with cover off

I just posted a photo of the back of my H840CK15 on this other thread because we were discussing repro backs, and I said that I was making a 'museum back' out of 1/8" lexan because you really want to see the insides of this set as it has a magnificent main chassis.

Westi 15" color

Fred:
I have one of the old Westinghouses, and posted it as an early entry in the color tv thread. This set is complete including the back. Here is the link to my website featuring it. I would be willing to do a surviving H840CK15 site and list. Afterall with so few (8 is what I have heard also) how hard can it be?

Not much sooner said than done, here is the Westi 15 survivor site. Anybody that can offer an addition to the list please send it to me and I will add it. Rob, don't you have one?

Hi Marlin, great Site, I'm sure you will uncover a few previously unknown survivors!

You know, the tube masking on those looks vaguely like the front of a clothes dryer... naah, they wouldn't have
