Picked up a Sony BDP-S1, first Bluray player sold in the U.S.

Purportedly the first according to Wiki, released to retailers in December of 2006 (wow, ten years already!) I remember seeing them in Best Buy back then for $1000, I got mine for $10 with the remote.

It's built like a tank as many first gen electronics are, brushed Aluminum top, blue Glass front, cooling fan and detachable PC type cord.

It works fine, just got finished watching Wreck It Ralph after first updating the Firmware, probably the only update it's ever had, was 3.8, latest (from 2012) is 6.1.

It's slow as molasses to load, like all first gen machines, takes two or three minutes but works smoothly once it's loaded.

Will I use it as a everyday machine, probably not, I have a couple cheap Panasonic's from 2010 that will load in a few seconds, but they are throw away junk as far as build quality, one is already starting to act weird at times.
