I've added audio jacks to stuff but i don't have an iso transformer so i usually leave the older tube chassis stuff alone. Guess it's just a matter of where to input the signal safely, right?

I use cheapie RF modulators - Rat Shack, GE, and several others - no need to mod the set. My wife finds them at yard sales and gets them for me. The most recent one she procured is a Realistic with stereo inputs and them "fancy" gold F fittings. I think I'm up to 7 of 'em and she's shelled out less than $10 total for all of them. I have an older one that I'm gonna try and mod with a different crystal (there's a really helpful thread for that too here on VK somewhere) so I can run other channels.

I'm not familiar with the set, but have you tried subbing the tuner? There's an old Castle replacement tuner on the 'bay right now, auction 390094156976. We used to use the PTS equivalents in sets that had mangled shafts or were DIY disasters. 6.3V, B+ and RF AGC voltage are all that's needed. The shafts on most of the "universal" replacements were concentric D-shafts, easily cut with a tubing cutter (outer FT shaft) and a hacksaw blade (main tuner shaft).

BTW, I'm not associated with the auction in any way - just had it come up in a search.

I just noticed the part number for the tuner on the 'bay is a Zenith part number, 175-402, so it's not likely to be universal. Then again, RCA did make a KRK series tuner that could be fitted in about 30 different models, so Zenith may have done the same.

What's the tube complement in your GE tuner? I can dig through my 20 or 30 tube tuners and see what I have.
