Zenith trans-oceanic H500 what is best to replace the selenium rectifier?

recently recapped and resistors checked and tubes checked , it fades and signals get weak, before measuring the B+ I hooked it to batteries and it was much better and signals were stronger , so i'm guessing the selenium before I even read voltages but will measure them but whats good to put in place of the selenium ? a 1n4004 ? 1n4002 ?
thanks
mike

Since they are so cheap, I go for broke and use the 1N4007. You will need to add a series resistor because the voltage will otherwise be excessive, particularly on the filaments.
