Your statements in this thread sound a little wild, especially about the Motorola battery set! Leaky yes, but dead shorted! It would be a new one on me.

I've never seen a set filled with dead shorted caps, but I've seen sets where better than %90 were leaky below 50V, and I've seen some caps with a resistance lower than the average speaker voice coil...All dead shorted would be rather unusual though.
