Zenith X334/7n07 schematic pdf?
I'd like to buy an original schematic but until I get a copy in my hands, does anyone have a pdf of this schematic I can use to help put together a cap list so I can order new caps?

There is one cap that has "322-103" printed on it. I'm pretty sure "103" is the value because .01u is a normal value whereas .0032u would be quite atypical (vs .0033u). However, odd values sometimes exist on old stuff so it would be nice to confirm in the schematics. Getting a schematic, even original, may be easier said than done though. Schematic Man doesn't have this one listed on his site (waiting for a reply to my email to him).
Perhaps someone can tell me with certainty that with such a printing on the cap, I should ignore the first part of the number and go with the second? |

That's probably one of the last tube models. It might be in Beitman's 1967-69 manual. I used to look them up at Make-A-Radio, web site. The only thing, it's not PDF, but DGVU ???, which I can't seem to use on the computer. |

I just got one of these last weekend. I cleaned it with deoxit and put a tweeter in. I am refinishing the cabinet.

Cool! I look forward to getting to that point with mine. I still need to work on mine.
Someone did give me a copy of the schematic BTW. |

Um, I hope you didn't put a regular paper cone tweeter in there, because this radio was designed for an electrostatic tweeter which uses the plate current off of the 50C5 output tube to power it, if you put a standard paper cone tweeter in place of the electrostatic tweeter you're going to risk causing a fire because paper cone tweeters aren't made to withstand the 300+volts of plate current being given off by the radio to power the electrostatic tweeter circuit.

Please whatever you do, leave the original Electrostatic tweeter alone and don't try to replace it with a regular paper cone tweeter because you'll risk causing a fire because they aren't designed to withstand the 300+volts of plate current coming off of the 50C5 tube in that radio which is what powers the electrostatic tweeter, if anyting just replace it with a modern electrostatic ribbon tweeter then you'll be fine, but please for the name of all things holy don't put a paper cone tweeter in there!

I like the e-stats better, but if a paper cone is what you got to replace a bad e-stat with why not.

And actually a brand new electrostatic tweeter isn't that much more than a standard paper cone tweeter so one could easily install a brand new modern electrostatic tweeter into an old Zenith like this and still be ahead, they have them over at parts express for like $15 or so. |
