The Weather Channel forecasts
Does anyone have an interest in Weather Channel forecasts? I like watching old ones on YouTube. I do watch the Weather Channel from time to time, but I don't like the new format of the Local On The 8s compared to the older version. It seems whenever I watch it at least, they play the same music, there's no jazz or any of the older songs they used to play.
I also get the Weatherscan channel and prefer the playlist they use on there. Sometimes I leave it on to just hear the music in the background. |

The most IMPOSSIBLE thing for a Computer Geek to do is leave well enuf ALONE.. I'm the only one here who uses this computer- I would be just as happy if the dam thing didn't HAVE a password.

I stop watching TWC years ago when they started filling time with BS programming. Now its probably fake weather.I listen to NOAA radio now to get the forecasts and forget the dramatic local news weather forecasts. Also I use Flightaware weathermaps.
I'm tired of the locals here putting their bottom alert scrolls on screen here in CT just for a sprinkle or a snow dusting .The NYC stations on cable dont even bother with it unless its a bad storm. |

I thought services like TWC were SUPPOSED to give accurate local weather for places that aren't big enuf to warrant a full-blown NWS type station.. Here we have almost 60 minutes of commercials for Fred's House of REALLY Big & Stupid tyres, & MAYBE you yokels will get Bugtussle mentioned as the F5 dances thru..

Also consider that there are near infinite ways to use most reasonably complex software products, and fully testing those is often not economically practical....Many software products roll out partially tested and get up rev'd for bug fixes as bugs are reported. A cowboy's work is never done.......Except when a release deadline is approaching, then we may have to give up on adding some features and bug fixes and get the most practical end result that can be achieved.

Her are some of my favorite forecasts. I remember watching this format of the weather channel at my grandma's house back in 1992 or 93. I can remember it at my other grandparent's but that was around 1996 and I think they had a different version.
When we got cable in 2007 they were in a more current version of the forecast. 1993: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jH3Oo-EWXko https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4me9DbDmv4 2012: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcUwlZ4pqh0 2013: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONiCfLPbd0s 2014: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_wrfGSnzHY |

Those old local forecast showed so much information than they do now. I was watching TWC yesterday and thinking about how short the forecast is. They don't do regional conditions or travel forecasts, moon cycles, or even show the radar during the Local on the 8s segments these days.
I guess since they show the info on the bottom of the screen all the time now they don't bother with it during the Locals. |
