No, I don't think it's a matter of misinterpretation. It says what it says, although James, and you, and the rest of us realize it should have said that useful resolution is 350, not useful lines. We are clearly in agreement on that.
I would not try to overthink this in terms of giving credit or blame to the author regarding the substance, as the writing is so poor that you can't be sure if he had the substance correct in his head (although you might suspect he did).
I think you should only depend on this as a source for your work if it's for facts of implementation that seem reasonable and/or can be confirmed, and not for technical explanations, which are obviously confused.
