The Jetsons are selling their TV

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=3638

Seller says it was made 25 years ago but the CRT and general styling look much older than that to me?

Kuba Komet

Wow! That's a Kuba Komet. The only other one I've seen is the one Moses Znaimer has (MZTV Museum Toronto). Very unusual set. It is 13 feet wide. I've attached a photo from the ebay auction here showing the door open revealing the combo equipment. This set should have also had a refrigerated bar in it IMO.

Personally?....doesn't yank my chain.

I agree, much too extreme, like modern "Retro" is now.
Plus how would you get a TV lamp to stay put on top of that?

I think that Brunswick gave one of those to the "Bowler of the Year", 1964

At 13' wide, and with that design, it would certainly be a challenge to wrap up to be shipped!

Kuba Komet

Hey, they had one of those Kuba Komet's at the St. Louis science museum a couple of years ago. I donno if they owned it or if it was a loaner. It was even more gaudy in person! Not as big as the picture suggests though.

Exclamation

Maybe it got impounded by the US government until a 47% premium on imported softwood lumber could be collected!
