Smile Just watched some classic holiday material on a classic tv

Hey all,

Since I haven't been using it much, I connected my '72 Chromacolor to a VHS/DVD combo unit and spent my late afternoon and evening watching old favorites...Very pleasing, since I love the holidays and love this TV

First I watched It's A Wonderful Life...in b/w on VHS. Considering how many plays this tape has, it did quite well. Next, an old compilation of 60's Christmas cartoons that someone gave my father before I was even born (!!) The tape had some rough spots, but they're fun stories and the color looked fabulous on the Zenith. Then, when I thought I was all Christmas'd out, I switch to cable and see the original Grinch movie on WABC. Again, the colors just seemed to come to life on this set....

It actually raises a question; why do these tv's have such good color? I mean I have the SAM's so the convergence, purity,ACC,crosstalk and grayscale is perfect but...my other vintage color's don't really do color the same. Something to do with the crt, I guess.

But, thought I'd wish y'all a happy holiday season while I'm here.

Chatty bunch.

Guess the mods can delete the thread at this point. Wouldn't want to waste valuable server space.

I may have to dig out my 20+ year old VHS tape of "rudolph" that I recorded off the air and watch that before Christmas. When I was in elementary school, back in the '80's, we used to watch that in the auditorium on the last day before before Christmas break. IIRC, the movie was on two 16mm reels and the projectors were probably old Bell & Howell film-o-sound models.

Gonna run some holiday DVD's through the CTC-4 and enjoy the fully saturated colors. Also will use the CTC-136B, a 27 incher from 1986.
Kind of fun to watch old shows on old sets, and just kick back and enjoy.
Happy Holidays to All!
Kevin

I always liked it when they brought out the projector in school!
I have one of those Bell & Howell Film-o-sound 16mm projectors......no films though.
