Back in the day, we repairmen called those swivel base consoles "finger mashers". I've pinched the h*ll out of my fingers many a time lugging one of those into the shop.

About ten years ago the best lead anyone could give you on one of those would be to say check the county dump sites. They were everywhere, but the downside is the economy REALLY stunk then and every set that could be found had the neck broken off the c.r.t. as people hurting for the next meal had gone copper crazy and the quickest way to get that yoke was snap that neck.

People stopped breaking into homes for a while and started going under them and ripping out all of the plumbing! We even had a telephone substation stripped one night and we didn't have phones for a week. These days that would equate to not having half of your brain for a week! LOL! The times they are a changin'

Don't need any more sets for the time being- I was able to find a matching pair of 1982 RCA Colortraks to fit the bill.

Yes, and the way that CRTs aren't even showing up at the thrift stores any more set this job up to be just that more difficult. I know here in California they're getting pretty scarce- heck, even BPC sets are getting hard to come by.

Depends on the thrift store. The big chains mostly won't take or sell CRTs (there are exceptions), but many of the smaller ones will still take CRTs...How old, how often and how many varies....

Occasionally you can get lucky. A year ago I had the chance to get a tube color Magnavox console from a Goodwill in my old home town in Ill....Only problem was I now live in Wi. and took a car down instead of an SUV....It sold before I could come back for it with an appropriate haul vehicle.
