I have a 1955 Zenith B&W console. It doesn't work, but I might be able to fix it for you if you want it.

I'm still trying to get in touch with Danny in Atlanta for the free tin can Zenith. I don't think I could fit that console in the back of my mother's Santa Fe, but thanks for offering!

That's okay. I've been searching Craigslist like a madman trying to find any old Zenith or RCA Victor color TV to buy anywhere. I've looked as far as Chicago, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and Atlanta. Not a speck of nice TV to be found. And yet I still see people posting super awesome TV's they find on the curb. Ah well. Maybe I'll get lucky someday.

You don't want tube color RCA sets. The printed circuit boards are flimsy and introduce reliability issues, the flybacks were driven too hard in RCAs, and are prone to fail, the design makes them a pain to first time restorers, etc.

Look for a Zenith those were built right.

Thanks for the info. At this point, I would take any vintage color set I could get my hands on. They're rare as hen's teeth in the slum that is Birmingham.

After a little while of waiting, leaving voice mails and such, I'm picking the set up the morning of January 3rd. Thanks to all who helped, gave advice, and especially to Damen who helped broker the deal!
Till then from an excited newbie, and thanks to all who helped!
