What the hell? You're going to just trash a set? Give it to someone who wants it!

That must be a later model Admiral, than 1956.
I checked a tube manual and it shows it as a 110 Degree crt.
110 degree CRT's didn't come out until mid-to-late 1957.

Well, it could be like the mysterious '65 Zenith with a rectangular tube and containing transistors. Of which we still don't have a chassis number on that. I don't think he knows the true dates on these TV's.

All of this knowledge, comes with experience and exposure. I've been hanging around TV repair and TV resale shops since I was twelve.
I'll be 68 next month.
I also did part time repairs for several years.
State a chassis number and I probably remember working on at least one.

True, I understand that. It's just if I honestly don't know something for certain, I just not specify a year. Like the Samsung in my sig. I still don't know when it was actually made, there's no year on the chassis or any sticker/plaque.

My brother had the same set. IIRC, it was the later 80's. Their TV is on, if it's being watched or not. It was in the basement rec-room, after they bought a larger set. I don't know what happened to it, as I was no longer interested in picking up old sets.
Look up the Sams and see if there's a date and figure a year earlier.

I don't have the SAMS but I do have schematics on it. It's for a newer model though with a digital tuner, not an analog tuner.

I do thank radiotvnut though, he was spot on on flyback issues with these, and thus I have a nice new flyback in it since half a year ago now, as per his reccomendation on flyback.
