Arrow FREE for pickup in MSP: RCA Victor 9-T-270

Free for the taking -- for parts or repair.
RCA-VICTOR black and white TV (15" ?)

model 9-T-270
chassis KCS29

My neighbor recently pulled this old TV out of storage. She says it was their family's first television set purchased second hand in the mid-1950s.

TV is in non-working condition. It appears to be missing a couple of vacuum tubes. Power cord is disconnected. The back has been removed and is slightly damaged. Overall style includes a utility type (almost homemade looking) cabinet. There is some damage to the cabinet near one edge. (see pics)

Free for pickup, but don't dawdle. My neighbor is taking it to the local electronics drop off on Saturday, May 22.

External dimensions of the cabinet are approximately 22x22x22 inches.

Contact me via AUDIOKARMA to arrange pickup if interested.

Thanks.

That's the original cabinet, they used sets like this in bars back in the day. Since she purchased it second hand, that's a definite possibility. I like it but cannot get it, hopefully it don't get recycled.

That makes more sense now that you mention it. It has a more commercial look to it and being cast off by a bar establishment would have made it more affordable to her family, I'm sure.

I'd love to see it go to someone who really wants it, but there is an electronics recycling event locally on Saturday . . .

Any idea on the year of manufacture?

Looks to be a '49 or '50, or real close to that. What CRT is in that? Are the numbers visible anywhere?

The SAMS lists it as a 16AP4.

I just spoke with my neighbor - it sounds like the recycling event is May 22nd and not tomorrow.

Wow. I am currently rebuilding a 9TC275 with the same KCS29 chassis. The one in this set looks better than mine. I am in Southern Illinois and Minneapolis is a bit far away for me. Is there any way someone could send me the chassis?

Incidently, I suspect the front panel coming away is simply a loose fastening wing nut for the front panel. In these models, the picture tube is removed from the front. This follows the 630TS and 8T241 design in this regard.
