Free CTC-169 and Sony WEGA in Beloit, WI

My folks asked me to get rid of some of their old sets, because they have 'upgraded' to flat panel.

Anyhow, come to 651 Park Ave in Beloit and collect if you want them. They are both in perfect working order, with remotes and manual. If they are not gone very very soon, they will be donated to Goodwill or wherever I can stick them without getting taxed by the Man.

First is the RCA Home Theater. It was bought brand new by my grandparents around '94, moved to my folk's house when they died, and now it needs a new home again. Model # G27220TN, chassis CTC-169CA2. It's a 27" set, and I'm not sure but it might have a black matrix CRT.

The WEGA is a little KV-24FS120 24" set. Bought by my old man, used for a while in the den, now replaced by aforementioned flat panel.

Call 608-921-9912 or 608-289-3208 before stopping by, to make sure someone is home.

If I was in your area, I'd take them. As far as later RCA's, the 169 is probably their best chassis. I doubt that new flat panel set will last as long as that 169 has. I hope someone who can get some use out of them gets them as these are too nice to go to the dump.

As I recall, the 169 did have an issue shortly after for grandfather bought it new. My memory is kinda hazy on this one, but I seem to recall the service guy saying something about loose connections on the tuner. Makes sense, the symptom was a snowy picture. It's been flawless ever since. And as far as lasting, you're probably right. I just stopped to think about the age, and realized I'd been watching it for the last 14-odd years!
