It would fit in the cabinet, but, the grid and cathode voltages make me wonder... Again, thanks for your contributions!! I've only had to swap a handfull of CRT's in my professional life, and those were color sets. Black and white sets were very rare when I had my shop, and I never saw a B/W console, much less a stereo combo!

I FOUND a 23MP4 in Raleigh, NC. I drove down to pick it up. We put it in the trunk of my car sitting on blankets and wrapped it up in more blankets for the trip.

I didnt take my tester with me on the trip. I forgot to stick it in the car!

When I got home, I tested the tube, and it has a H-K short. The guy I got it from didnt have a tester, and we pulled the tube out of an old console he had stashed in a barn. He gave it to me, which I truely appreciated. So, the quest continues!

Thanks for all the help!!

Don't dump that tube because of the H-K short. Fool around with the base, tap on the tube neck, etc while running to the tester to see if the short is only intermittent.

It is also worth your while to try to remove the tube base to see if the short lies within the leads.

Failing that, does your crt tester have a clear shorts function?

Hi Sandy.

I'll be seeing you one day. I rarely get to see Don and Sharon anymore. I DID see them at our family reunion back in June.

My camera cant capture a decent image of my set working. I did take some the day I got the monster running, but thats all. They are posted here on VK.

I got the funky tuner working enough to step away from the set and see how good it looks from a distance. So far, I'm only running real B/W TV shows on this one. None of that color junk for me!!

It's time to retire this thread. I got the tube, and all is well here in the Western NC mountains!!!
