Sears Silvertone 2200 radio

I have posted this at Audiokarma and was told I would get better information here!

Hello everyone, I am restoring a Sears Silvertone model 2200 (maroon color metal cabinet, chassis #528.229).

No "power on" tests have been made yet, just continuity and tube tests (a shorted 3V4 was found).

My plans are to retain battery operation and "forfeit" AC wall power because of the following reasons-

A) The cabinet is ALL metal and COULD become "HOT" due to faulty insulation or component(s).

B) The AC/Battery switch is faulty and will NOT change over to battery operation (it is a fragile looking switch an may be brittle and may not survive a repair attempt).

I found on line on you-tube for a "D" cell" converter power supply that I seem to have most of the parts for.

Any tips or feedback would be appreciated, I have the skills to do this and have a clear schematic from the bottom of the unit I could post here!

Let me know if it belongs in a "better" forum than this one.
