I don't own any tube McIntosh equipment, however, I have other equipment from the 1950s where the original FP style electrolytic capacitors work well and have low leakage. One example would be a pair of Electrohome mono amplifiers which I use for my computer sound system. The coupling caps were changed ages ago. The amplifiers are from 1953, and get used often. Both are well fused.
If you have something like a Sprague TO-6 to test the capacitors and they test good, and the owner wants it all original, I'd leave it alone.
