Even before I researched about, Romanian (language) reminds to me a mix of Italian and Eastern Europe languages, written with non-cyrillic characters. ...exactly that says Wikipedia:

Side note - then I'm correct when I said to my wife (she is Paraguayan) that Spanish is closer to Latin than Portuguese...
