Actually, the haloing had to be avoided no matter what tube was used, as, for example, it was found that bright red clothing would produce a bad-looking cyan halo that would extend into the performer's face. So, a 5820 properly set up for color would mainly have a much poorer signal to noise ratio than a close-spaced tube.
CBS noticed the same red problem in their field-sequential system and wrote an internal memo about it.
