In the last season of The Patty Duke Show (1965-1966), there is an episode where Patty fakes being near sighted to avoid testifying in a court case involving a traffic accident. The lawyer comes to her house and tries to see if she's faking. He turns on the TV and it is a roundie in a danish modern design. Patty then tells him it's a color set and it needs adjustment. He thinks she's about to blow her scheme but she then gets up and starts adjusting the window air conditioner....Ironically, the Patty Duke show ended at the end of this season because United Artist didn't want to pay the expense of Color for the next season after the network mandated all programs would be in color the following season.

In the later seasons of the Donna Reed show, there is a built in TV in the Stone's den. I don't remember if they ever said if it was a color or b&w set. I read The show was cancelled in 1966 for the same reason as Patty Duke, they didn't switch to color.
