A less cruel set to get wire from would be an 80's console TV. Many of those attached the controls to the PCB with 1-4' long harnesses that are often fairly decent for tube work. Some time ago I took such a harness from a Sylvania and built an audio amp with a tube count comparable to a TV with it.

Of course you are correct, I was thinking of the olden days when
you could get a warehouse of TV's for free. But the great Zenith wire
ended when the System 3 chassis came out with all that purple
crap. Still good wire but not the all out wire used before.

So I end this with the humblest of apologies and urge all NOT
to chop up any old Zeniths for hook-up wire, no matter how
beat they are.
