Junk and tube type Zenith don't belong in the same paragraph let alone sentence IMHO. If there is enough left to salvage wire from, then there is probably enough to be worth restoring...

A less cruel set to get wire from would be an 80's console TV. Many of those attached the controls to the PCB with 1-4' long harnesses that are often fairly decent for tube work. Some time ago I took such a harness from a Sylvania and built an audio amp with a tube count comparable to a TV with it.
