I grew up there, southwest suburbs.. but I dont think I could afford to live there now. traffic seems worse every time i visit. In most respects its a nice metro area, if youre not too far out and have to drive an hour to get anywhere. If I ever go back im getting a place near one of the light rail lines, easy to zip downtown or to the airport or mall that way. Its cold in the winter, but there is rarely any wind in the winter. Now i live in Milwaukee where it might be 10 -15 degrees warmer, but windy.. and shushy and sloppy. I like winter in Minnesota better. There are very few bad areas in Minneapolis, most of it is fairly nice, compared to other big cities, or even Milwaukee. the cold keeps the riff raff out, they used to say.
