Sorry if the detour is bothering anyone, but I love learning about regional accents - I wish we had a recorded example of everything mentioned above. This brings back memories of one grade school teacher who had distinctly different pronunciations for "merry," "Mary" and "marry," all of which are identical in my part of the world.
