Update on this set!
Well, since the picture tube had gone to air, I ended up making a trade deal on it, giving up hope of ever finding a picture tube for it. In fact, many of you saw it up on ebay as he decided to sell it after giving up hope himself.
This past weekend, an unexpected and special thing happened. A TV friend who I went to see (don't know if he wants to be named
), came across a BRAND NEW IN THE CARTON 21AXP22A! Dated 1969! With the original warranty card, and 100% perfect emission!
This particular guy (who is a man among men....really!) generously offered me the tube. One of those God or karma moments, depending on what you believe. I was astonished, but one problem....nothing to install it in
Through yet another swap deal, I'm getting my Arliss back, it's getting this brand new picture tube, and I'll have (hopefully) a working CTC-5....with a BRAND NEW picture tube!
So excited!!! It's like a dream come true
