Time to clear some space! I am selling a 21fb that tests like new and has great cutoff that came out of my semi working CTC4. The face is immaculate and there are no scratches to be found at all. The base is loose due to a small crack in the base, but this can be easily stabilized and all connections are solid. The gun elements look just a bit discolored, but that sure does not indicate its test results being bad. THE TUBE IS NOT GASSY, I know the readings are high but this tube is gas free and displays a picture with all three colors working nicely and the life test is alright. The only reason I took this jug out of the 4 is because I found a NOS 21fb for it. I am asking $200 for this tube and you must arrange shipping (I suggest Uship).

About zero chance.

I don't understand the big deal about shipping. Build a plywood crate and fill it with soft foam.

I've shipped multiple CRTs in cardboard boxes and have had none break. And I am willing to ship this thing out in a custom made crate.

snelson903 11-08-2017 11:42 PM

and watch them neck it, they will find a way .lol

miniman82 11-09-2017 09:45 PM

Yup. UPS was nice enough to deliver me a box of useless glass that used to be a rebuilt FJP from Hawkeye, I no longer put CRT’s through the mail.

SwizzyMan 11-10-2017 02:44 PM

All I can say is I will create a custom crate for the damn thing if someone buys it. It WILL survive shipping.

i don't know how some of those people working for shipping companies do it ,they can break anything , ill bet if you would take a chunk of concrete bubble wrap it and box it would come back broken. iv worked around people like that over the years ,you always ask them how did you do that , i don't know it just broke on its own, they always say. lol

Is the NOS tube installed in the set and working ?

If yes , sure I can see selling the surplus one . But ! If you haven't yet put the NOS tube in and actually seen it work , you could be shooting yourself in the foot big time if the NOS tube turns out to have some unseen defect or other .

Remember , NOS or new anything else , there ARE a certain percentage of all products that show up brand new , factory defective , and unfit for service . Selling the known working tube before verifying the new one works perfectly is taunting the CRT Gods in ways they shouldn't be goaded .....

Because they dont care if it breaks and in a hurry to get the package out..Especially now upon the holiday season. It would be great for you if somebody lives near FL and pick it in person.Shipping charges now become gas and travel expenses and the buyer will get it home safely.

I've heard that people shipped by bus companies.

snelson903 11-10-2017 08:45 PM

they stopped shipping by bus a year or 2 ago, miniman82 was told by greyhound they stopped for some safety reason or something, maybe he remembers when he was going to ship me a tv set . now i was talking to my dad who might be going to Florida in December about chances he picking it up ,but he was also thinking about going to Arizona , so he could ride his dirt bike on the desert, he's a 80 year old youth ....

Has anyone used Fastenal for shipping? Sounds like a decent option.

Many parcel co's have automated sorting equipment which sometimes drop packages several feet...Add to that they were moving fast horizontally when dropped...
There is also air freight involved in many parcel carrier's routes...Packages don't complain about turbulence, planes taking off at insane angles, or rough landings so the pilots could not be bothered to go the extra mile to avoid that.

And then there are the local centers where (relatives that worked there years ago say) "they would load trucks bucket brigade style by throwing packages to the next person down the line...If it looked heavy it purposely would not be caught."
