F/S: Early Sears 19" Square Color Set

Got this recently and as you all know, I don't do square sets. Not sure what it's worth, but wouldn't take a lot to bring it home. Can be seen/picked up here in Virginia for the next month, then in Maryland from March on out.

Didn't do anything when I first variac'd it, B+ breaker was bad like they always are. Jumpered out the breaker, set cam to life with a shrunken raster from all the bad caps that are likely inside. But that means it's a good candidate for a resto, and since the CRT tests like new on all 3 guns you'll enjoy it for a long time to come. Again, all tube not a hybrid! This is not the large neck early set that had the same size neck as a 21" one, but still a nice early delta gun set ready to be put back into DD status. Someone make it live again! :thmbsp:

Forgot to add, all the tubes are originals. All Sears or Silvertone branded.

If you bring it to the ETF swap meet, I'd give you $30 for it.

cool set, cant be many survivors of that model.

snelson903 02-08-2016 05:56 AM

like to have it , what does it weigh , what would shipping cost be to northern Indiana.

miniman82 02-08-2016 08:21 AM

Not very heavy, it's a true table top set unlike those other ones that weight 10 tons. Thinking it might be able ship in a big cardboard box?

Forgot to mention I have the legs.

Olorin67 02-08-2016 09:08 AM

if you packed it well, you could ship it Greyhound

Original owner must've had a Sears maintenance agreement on it. The red branded Silvertone tubes are replacements.
Sanyo built, not the most reliable. :thumbsdn:

a year or so ago i sent boobtubeman a tv usps , i made a double haul box with padding in between and glued it all together and made a tape ball out of it ,and sent to California from mishawaka Indiana and made it no problems , i think the cost was only 38.00 bucks tv i think weigh 48lbs . it probably doesnt hurt to say a prayer over it before leaves .

Are you coming to the ETF meet? You could bring it there if so. I am interested in the set.

I know, that set weighs more than 48 pounds.
I sent an RCA 19" B/W portable, a better model with a power transformer and it weighed 58 lbs, packed.
IIRC, it was $52.00 USPS, to LA Cal. :scratch2:

These are actually decent sets for what they are. I had one nearly identical to this one, but in a steel cabinet, with screw on legs, to make it a "consolette". It had mostly original tubes, didn't take much to get it working again.

I'm not big on paying shipping, but if you need it gone sooner than the ETF meet I'd consider it depending on what combined purchase and shipping cost would be to zip 53072.
