WTB: Good 10BP4
The CRT from my Admiral project has gone from bad to worse - let it cook at 6.3V overnight, with further degradation well into the BAD range.

Got one to spare for an otherwise good set?

Did you see what the last on went for on ebay?

I would like to add a few dozen 10BP4's to my 401K please...... At least I know they'll go up in value....

Yes, he did - he was the first to bring it up. How does your mentioning it again help his cause ?

oldtvsandtoy 07-31-2013 05:32 PM

It does not help his cause at all. Just letting him know people on here might be asking a ton for one. It might be better to look on craigslist for a junk old 10" tv. Thats how I get the picture tube I sold.

Yeah, I saw that auction. I bid on it too, and even the crazy bid I put on it was not enough. I'd rather not go out and get another set just to junk it for the CRT except as a last resort. Just hoping somebody here had a spare that they didn't see a future need for.

what happens if you run it with a brightner ? if you can some use out of it with one attatched its better then no use , i have seen a couple sets where the 10bp4 without a brightner the thing doesn't go up much and stays in the bad but when in the set running it shows an image , you have to turn the contrast up really high but you can get a watchable image out of it
i normaly let them sit at 7 or 7.5 volts or maybe 8 volts but don't do it overnight , for a hour or so.

David, I wish I could find the 10BP4 I pulled out of that same Admiral I destroyed the cabinet of back in the 80's, I'd send it to you for just the cost of shipping. I'm looking for an 8BP4 myself...

If worse comes to worse, might do the brighener route - but it is hard to justify doing a restoration with such a poor tube. I might just put this one aside until I find a good tube, and learn the lesson of checking tubes when getting a new set.
