That should be really easy on Ebay. There are several vacuum tube suppliers that often have a number of the early tubes. Some specialize in harder to find stuff. UX201A or 01As aren't that hard to find I'm fairly certain.

My radio collection tends to stay a little ahead of the 20s, but I do have one Atwater-Kent "coffin" style radio that operates on AC. I need an old globe style type 26 (or UX226) for that set. I saw a few of those on ebay. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Hey, I just typed in 201A tube on Ebay and the first thing I saw was a group of five; tested. The auction ends this Sunday at noon. There are 6 bidders currently at $31.00. :thmbsp:

CRT needed

Looking for a good 24AP4 for a project I would like to restore

benman94 04-24-2017 05:45 PM

New want list:
  • A DuMont RA-105 tabletop set
  • An RCA CTC-5 "Super" chassis set with good 21AXP22
  • An RCA CTC-5 "Deluxe" chassis set with good 21AXP22
  • A Motorola 19CT1 or 19CK1 with good 19VP22 (I can dream, right?)
  • A good 12KP4 CRT
  • A CBS-Columbia 205 set (I can dream...)
  • A 21-CT-55

If I can find a CTC-2B, and both 5s, I'll have a representative example of each RCA color chassis from '54 to '60 with the sole exception of the CT-100, which I did have and sold (15Gs are a huge gamble, one I'm not keen on taking again).

You don't want TOO much, do you ?!? (grin)Seriously, I'm old enuf to remember when a badge Meant something... "Made in USA" That was all it HAD to say. Seems like things started getting VERY "Cheap & Nasty" about the same time when RCA re-did their logo to that new "Blocky" type face.. I remember going into a large RCA dealer's place about 1969-70 or there abouts, he had a Big "Mess" of TOTL RCA entertainment centres, they had carnival grade plastic knobs, that disgusting "Plastiwood" front panels, & they all smelled like a polecat had crawled up in a few of '/em & met his maker but NOT before evacuating his Bladder several times.

I'll tell you boys what I'd REALLY like to have-A Phone line that STAYED"Live"... I THINK they installed them in 1066, & apparently, they will not install NEW lines for a few more years. .. My lines are apparently NOT "Water-Proof", get a good Toad Soaker goin', & you can pick up folks talking from ALL OVER the Globe. The lines have more extraneous noise on 'em than a marimba band. And, of course, EVERY TIME they come to fix things, THIS time-We SWEAR, We're gonna "Nail" the noise, this time for SURE... If I'm lucky,I MIGHT have static-free lines a week or 2 longer than the LAST-"We got it Licked NOW,Mr Geiger...I KNOW that I'm basically rather Stupid & all, but I'm PRETTY SURE wrapping my lines w/a black trash bag Bin Liner will NOT keep the water out...

Another thing I'd give my Eyeteeth to have Back in my possession is my KIWA MW Loop. Lent it out to a boy that had dreadful reception at his house, he got the KIWA all set up, & promptly managed to lose it.. Trust me-A KIWA meant you could very likely have amazing reception any time of the day or night.. THIS is what I got for being a "nice Guy.." This guy & his brother lived together, generally Walter took care of stuff, but Jeff-The Brother- could eff up a 2 car funeral.. I managed to hold onto the KIWA for a little while after I got my R-389 back from Terry. Had it long enuf to realize I'd made a BIG mistake lending it out. There was/IS a twice told tale about the outstanding capabilities of the R-389/KIWA combination...Fella had one in Denver, was able to receive in the winter time, a French LW station-Carrier & a few note that allowed him to see just how much of a Hoss the Kiwa was.. Transatlantic DX is difficult, but still QUITE doable if you have the right equipment.. But 2.3 of the way across the North American continent isn't quite as easy..
