Actually a TV set is a time viewing machine. You can see actual past events before you were born and multiple possible futures. It can also teleport you away to far off lands and put you in the front row at rock concerts.

I am looking for one of these XL-100 sets. I think it was a 1974ish model. I don't know the model number, but have been searching for the better part of 10 years for one mainly because they had great picture and nostalgic reasons. I grew up watching one of these. If anyone has any info on this particular tv I would greatly appreciate it. This pic was taken from another older post.

I remember having one of these back in the early 1990s.. It stopped working and got thrown out..

Likely a ctc 71 or ctc 76. Got one mounted on a stand--likely a hotel version.

Zenith chromacolor II

70's 13" zenith chromacolor II with vertical chassis.

I often think about how difficult it can be to find a particular example of a vintage TV. Unlike vintage hifi audio where you could just ebay a component or even a pair of speakers.
lately, the system 3 zeniths have been rarer. So the two series of rect. color before them are even scarcer. I once found a 13" 1987 zenith color in the grey cabinet with knob tuners, for free on the curb at 136th. I got rid of it because times were good for finding old tvs. now It would be more of a find. even though it was a mexican built Zenith.

A Magnavox Star System console with T995 chassis, not too ornate. Pretty much anything other than the US bicentennial model which I probably wouldn't find here anyway.

Sears or Sanyo console with Sensor Touch tuning.

Late 60s to about 1980 color consoles made for the Canadian market.

A spare, preferably NOS 25VCXP22 CRT for my daily-watcher 1976 Electrohome.

A Philips Colour Voice 1000 analog CATV converter, complete with remote (secured one in its original box, thanks Carl).

I could use some NOS blank 8-track tapes. I'm fascinated with the format but the music on most pre-recorded tapes sucks.

Holy crap, what was I thinking?! Time to make plans to get out of Canada's trailer park and go where I can thrive.

A 1970 Plymouth Satellite Suburban with a 4-speed for year-round use.

A 1982 Mercury Lynx, 2-door in medium blue metallic with a 4-speed would be cool too. Can't use that during my favorite season though.

Life has exposed me to a few new ideas, and in addition to a time machine, magic powers, and a invisible ring like in the movie "Matchless" I would also like a Fart Gun, Freeze Ray, and maybe a 5 to 8 person space ship with warp drive and spare dilithium crystal array.

...........oh ya- and a v12 Corvair....

FART gun.....FTW, and some minions to try it out on!!!!

Any of the off-brand color TVs listed in the SAMS photofacts from the 70s and 80s, even if they were crap. Often times I see many brands of TVs some I never heard of, and some looked half decent. Where are they all? All dead by 2013?

Examples: Coronado, Broadmoor, Viking, Electrohome, Emerson-DuMont, some of the obscure Sanyos, Bell and Howell, Xam, Teknika, Rank-Arena, Blaupunkt, Muntz, Packard-Bell, Wells-Gardner.

..Just for the sake of saving some of the more oddball TVs

I think the packer man got most of them by now....

Jon A. 08-11-2013 11:26 PM

Not necessarily, I recognize two of those as Canadian brands. They're just unlikely to pop up in U.S. listings.

rca2000 08-11-2013 11:41 PM

I think that since the first couple of generations of the Zenith system 3's had that Tri--potential tube, that is NOT nearly as durable or long--lived at the deltas,(I recall then dying in the late 1980's)... figure most of the have seen their date with the packer men also...

rca2000 08-11-2013 11:47 PM

I have a zenith 13HC10 CC portable, vertical cold chassis, good tube. some problem killing diodes in vertical power supply.. No time to really fool with it right now. ALL there, IIRC.

Would GLADLY trade it for a 1968 19" Zenith solid state BW set or a ctc-74 direct address set!!
