For Sale or Trade: Knobs, knobs, knobs

I've noticed a few guys looking for knobs. Well, as a result of my quests for knobs, I've ended up with 100s I don't need.

If you can spot what you need in these photos, supply me with a photo or describe it really well, I'll try to pick it out for you.
I believe most of these are for TVs from the 50s, 60s & 70s, but I have a few oldies. A few ham radio/instrument knobs too.

Make me a fair offer or trade. I'm looking for Motorola knobs for a VT71 and 7VT2.

More hi-res pictures here.

WOW! That's one hell of a knob pile! Funny thing is, a few years ago I would have been clueless as to what all those go to, now I could tell ya' about where about 3/4 of them go to. Messed with many 'o tv in the last 5 years of collecting:) I'll see if I need any of them this weekend, IIRC, I do. I see some 80's ones floating around in there too.

That pile is only about 1/3 of what I have :D
I know what you mean - I've studied more knobs than I care to think about. I'm more focused on the 50s and earlier though so I don't know what a lot of these are for.

Holy crap! Now that's a lot of knobs! I too am more focused on the older stuff but have seen the others on sets in thrift stores and while hunting the elusive roundie:D I have a weird memory that stores that kind of stuff, I just wish it would work that way with math :nerd:

I picked up another stash of knobs. Here are some of the nicer ones.
Clockwise -
Motorola channel knob
RCA outer knobs
RCA channel plate for sets like 8T241
not sure
Philco 30s fine-tuning knobs
Close, but not quite, VT71 channel knobs. They'll work fine with a little shim.
Center - Admiral knob missing a brass insert :(

Here are the last few knobs I'm looking for. One red Motorolla knob and some GE-810 knobs.

Make me an offer, trade, etc.

Thanks,
Bob

Hmm, now I wish I had a set that needed a knob. That's a huge collection!

In the 011.jpg photo there's a knob labeled "Picture." What does a "Picture" knob do?

I'm not positive, but it might be a combination of several functions like brightness/contrast or color/tint.

I need that big AM radio tuner knob on the 4th picture down, 1st post. It fits a 1959 GE transistor portable I have.

I think I have that Motorola knob you need, I'll look through my big box of knobs for it later tonight.

I am looking for the contrast knob (the clear one without the channels) for my motorola TS-14. I may be able to fix the one I have (the plastic broke on the neck that engages the outer pol shaft).

I am currently checking my own stash for a nect that has the right inside shape. I hope to simply bore out the existing broken part and glue in a new neck. It will not be noticable since the volume knob covers the inner part of the clear knob.

I found one of those red Motorola knobs, it's kind of scratched up, but it's whole, see pic below. I'll trade it for that GE radio knob.

Funny. I got a sack of about 100 knobs a while back, thinking it had three that I needed. Turned out that not a single one was right! I used a bunch of the useless ones to make a silly little Christmas tree.

Anyhow, I have two CTC-11s and each of them is missing two small knobs from the bottom row. That row has controls for vertical, horizontal, etc. To complete both projects, I need two of the following type in the brown color (for my wooden cabinet), and two more "clear" ones (for my black metal cabinet).

Each CTC-11 is also missing the fine tuning knob. I have one like the following, but the barrel is too wide to fit through the bezel around the knob hole in my wooden cabinet. I ground it down, but it's still tight, and I'm not convinced that it's the right knob, anyway. Somebody told me that his metal CTC-11 had a metal fine tuning knob.

I'll be happy to pay. It's annoying to have a "complete" project that's not quite complete.

If I ever get organized (yeah, right) I should photograph my pile and put 'em up here for grabs.

I'll printout those knobs folks have requested recently and go through my whole stash in a day or two.
