Scott 6T11 crt hood ?
 

Finally got the mirrors back from Spectrum Coatings for the Scott 6T11 I've been trying to bring back to life. When I got the set it was missing the CRT so I don't know how it was originally installed. There is a thick paper "hood" that is held to the CRT with a rubber band. The problem is the SAMS doesn't give any indication of how this hood is to be aligned. Should it be at the top of the tube face, i.e., facing the lens, or at the bottom shielding the 45 degree mirror? I have it in the former position now and it seems to be creating a shadow on the lens. I know some of you have the Scott projection set so hopefully someone can provide a definitive answer.

In addition the vertical centering control doesn't seem to do much. It will shift the picture up and down a little but not as it should (maximum "UP" occurs in the center of its rotation. This is a pot with a center tap. I'm assuming the tap is open. Does anyone have a replacement you'd part with?

Mine did not come with a hood. It is a very short throw from the Protelgram to the inside mirror and I don't know what a hood would do. And not much room to store the hood when folded up. Do you have a pic of yours for our guessing?

Sorry for the delay in replying. I have this set at work and had to move it off the bench to actually do some things I'm employed to do. Sometimes work interferes with my hobby pusuits. Anyway, the pictures from bandersen show small rectangular glass protrusions around the face of the CRT. Those protrusions are designed to engage the hood I described. It is obviously designed to keep reflected light from hitting the face of the tube thus washing out the contrast to some degree. The question remains: from where is this light expected to iminate? I will try to get a decent picture of it tomorrow and post it. I wouldn't be surprised if many of these hoods were lost over the years. I don't expect the life span of a rubber band in that environment to be very long. It is mentioned in the sams but it doesn't say how it is to be arranged. They, or course, assumed you would be replacing an existing tube and therefore would simply put the hood back as if was before. Thanks for your help, and bandersen get busy and resort your Scott so we can compare notes :)

Attached is a poor picture of the hood in question. All the mirrors and lenses give the camera fits so I circled the part that is the hood to make it easier to tell what is what.

Duh! I just noticed what I'm pretty sure is my hood at the top of this photo! I see how it has slots that correspond to the CRT
