This ad seems to suggest that the set was built in Brasil? Or am I misunderstanding the "Pride of the Brazilian TV Industry" headline?

No, you are correct. The TV was made in Brazil. The Brazilian Predicta is slightly different from the American version, the channel selector knob is on the side, not on the front, and the other knobs are located in a slot on the top of cabinet. I don't know if there are technical differences, I am not someone with knowledge in electronics, and I never read anything saying that the two versions had differences in circuitry.

I had understood that Philco had a plant in Brazil from the early days.
IIRC, when Ford sold Philco, they kept the Brazilian plant to build car radios and other automotive electronics.
They also had a plant in Great Britain and possibly Italy. :scratch2:

Interesting. The Philcos we see here are all American imports (not that there are many). We have Spanish-made Zeniths, Sonys, Sylvanias, GEs (actually GEEs) and Emersons though.
