New here!

Hello,
I'm Anthony. I'm in my late twenties but have always felt that old TV receivers and audio technology were better. I have a few not-so-old TVs from the late 70s and am fairly good at repairs. It's excellent to see a community such as this one exists.

Welcome ! Nice t'have ya !

AVeturri 05-07-2013 07:19 PM

Hi, Sandy G- Thanks you for the warm welcome. I am impressed at your post-count! And you've got ten years on my tenure here :)

welcome! Kind of surprising to see someone who collects SS sets. Only part of most SS sets(unless they have a delta gun CRT in which case I'll take the whole set) that follow me home is the circuit board.

AVeturri 05-07-2013 08:21 PM

Since one day these sets will be non-existent

Hi!

"Nice to see a 20 year old has nice warm thoughts towards old fart kinda stuff......."

Well, I'm closer to 30 but yeah, most of my friends and acquaintances have no idea why I'd want to mess with standard-definition analog tv! Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome, seems were in the same neck of the woods, if you ever need parts we still have a place that has some components, for people who cant wait for the mail...They are in Syosset, right here on the island, called LNL. Have fun and welcome. Bruce

AVeturri 05-09-2013 05:44 PM

Hi Bruce, thanks for the heads-up re: LNL... Syosset isn't far from me, and I have family there! Always good to see a local electronic-component supplier

And they wouldnt understand listening to doo-wop,
driving a Studebaker GT Hawk or Avanti, or watching a B&W movie.
I have done them all and thats the kind of things that make us
different & less boring.........
Welcome aboard

A still others in their 40s grew up with BW sets, upgraded to color later, and had to monkey around with wires and funky antennas to get the channels that played the BW re-runs and cartoons.
Glad you're here!:music:

Welcome aboard. I'm only slightly older than you are and I feel the same way about older technology. All of my sets so far are from the 80s though.

I worked with another Electrician named Anthony. I called him Tony. He said no, " it's Anthony". He's Polish and German herittage. :boring:
