'63 Philco working, but needs tuner rebuild

1 Attachment(s)
Finally got to the 1963 Philco combo today, replaced the 6BK4 and got the hv stabilized. Now the pic is good with excellent color, but the contacts in the tuner are just plain worn out. Cleaning did nothing. Does anyone still rebuild these?
If I hold it slightly off channel, the pic is perfect with no snow. (One of the wafer switches has deep grooves worn in the contacts)

As far as I know Louis Stangle at Quality Tuner in Texas is still doing them, at least part time. 903-753-3204. You might have to call in the evening as I think he has another job during the day.

His website is still up, but the domain name is for sale:sigh:
Digital is probably the culprit?

yea I tried the number (even the fax) none worked. I wonder if any body in Texas could check it out to see if he is still working there?

I am going to try calling the guy in Ohio tomorrow.

I ended up repairing the tuner myself with contacts from another parts unit. It ended up being a weekend project..Yikes! What a PITA!

Louis Stangle is gone? NO!!!!! He was the best! He rebuilt numerous tuners for me over the past few years and always did a great job. He used to work for Sarkies Tarzan back in the 60's from what he told me. I have some other contact numbers for him at the house including all of my old repair bills, I'll have to dig them up and see.

Its good to know atleast there is another rebuilder out there yet.
