"Fix-It Clinics"

Has anyone participated in one of these events? In spite of its' size, my county doesn't appear to have any.

That's a cool idea. I couldn't help but notice most items were quite old. With today's stuff, good luck even getting most of it apart.

The throwaway culture does have one benefit: sometimes I get pretty decent scores from wealthy people who probably couldn't change a flat tire. I got a free air conditioner recently, not a moment too soon. The ad said it wasn't cooling like it used to and that they cleaned the filter but no joy. So far I've straightened out several sections of bashed-in fins on the condenser coil. I still need to open it up to clean out the evaporator coil.

Especially that Panasonic RE-6283. Pretty sweet how the tech held it up like a trophy once it was working.
