That brings to mind why the Pinto and Bobcat were never offered with a V6/4-speed manual combo. They would have been able to outrun the Mustang II, not good for a generation of Mustang that was based on the Pinto.

IIRC that was the generation of mustang that featured the king cobra performance package...The sole difference between one and a regular mustang being a snake sticker on the hood...Dark days for the pony car those were.

I knew of an outfit that put a Pinto body on a four-wheel drive Bronco chassis. WOW!!!

For what it's worth the Mustang wasn't intended to be a high-performance machine when first introduced.
