why are ebay links blocked?

I have noticed that posts that have an ebay page are being blocked. You have to open the link in a new tab or page in order to view the link. I would like to know WHY???

I don't know, I wrote an E-Mail to Tim asking this question.
If he doesn't get back to me soon i"ll ask Grumpy, unless he reads this and lets us know sooner.

I always right-click those into a new tab.
