TV as light source?
Update. Solved. See below.
Samsung UN55J6200 LED TV. Yep, the thread below this one. The screen turned out to be bad, so I figured the set could be used as a light source if I removed the damaged screen. Right? I removed the screen, and oh what a light source! Only problem is it flashed a few times then quit at the 2 minute mark. Having a second set of boards, I installed them (the T-con board had no screen to attach to) and the same thing. The screen lights up, then flashes a few times, and is dead by the 2 minute mark. Any ideas?? Thanks |
The computer probably has programming that says if it doesn't detect a working screen by two minutes then turn off. I'm assuming you mean it's an LCD tv with an LED backlight. Well, coming up with a separate driver to run the LEDs shouldn't be too hard. But it kinda defeats the purpose of using the broken tv parts... :/

Most newer sets will shut off if they don't detect a signal within a set time. It might be defeat-able but without a screen you can't access the menu to change it.

Solved!
I removed all boards except the combo SMPS/driver board. Works like a champ. The light comes on when plugged in wall outlet. No internal on/off switch necessary. TY |
