Sanyo 14-H1 excessive width.

Hello.
I have re-capped this set but am troubled by excessive width. The EHT is about 8.5 kV (14RP4A CRT). Bypassing the EHT rectifier with a sold state one does not increase the EHT. I've checked and/or replaced all components in the horizontal output stage with no difference. The width control does change the width slightly, but not enough. I've tried another horizontal output valve with no effect. The damper valve has been checked OK on an AVO Mk II but I have no substitute for it (12AX4GTA).
Does anyone out there have any ideas about getting the width down? I have no service data on this set at all.

Stuart
