"We Use RCA Tubes" Repairmens case

Found this yesterday for $40 and talked them down to $30. Was just too cool to pass up. Still has a few items in it. Caps, etc. Will probably stock up on tubes eventually and i'll have a place for them now.

I have one of those. Always wondered what they were thinking with the open slots that dump everything in them, out....as soon as you close the lid.

I guess you would have to keep it full of tubes, with no room to spare.. To keep them from moving around.. Otherwise, it would be a hunting expedition every time you open it to try and find anything!

I have the same exact caddy.. in about the same condition. These are designed to fit tubes that are in boxes, packed in snug. the goal was to have any tube that might be needed on hand to save a trip back to the shop. So it would normally be packed tight to have as big of an inventory as possible. Subbing tubes was the main method of testing, too, quicker to pop a new tube in and see if it improved things than set up a tube tester. I suspect the tube tester was reserved more for customers who needed more convincing a removed tube was "bad"

You could have removed all the tubes & Stuff, and turned it into a pet caddy !
or you cudda put a fish tank in it...... Or a Guinea Pic Hotel, or a Hamster
Habitat, or a Bunny House, or a Ferret Play House..... Or a Beanie-Baby
jail.... or a Turtle Terrarium..... yikes....

LOL. Was $30 a good price? I've always wanted one of these. What did you guys pay for yours. What do they usually go for?

Ive seen nice ones go for more. For one in that shape $30 is about right I think (unless it was full of sweep tubes and 7591s) hopefully it will clean up Ok, shoe polish works well on the solid color ones if you can find a color match. Ones without brand names go for a lot less than RCA, Zenith, etc.
