I've seen them used for long slender tubes such as the 6CA7 and for long cylinder multi caps in aluminum casings.

Um, pencil boxes are a description for control covers - most RCA sets in the 50s used them - I'm just curious what models these are for - look to be for blonde sets.

These aren't pencil boxes of the stationery supply kind....these are TV appearance parts....

Way back when I was in grade school we had a cigar like cardboard box that was commonly referred to as a school box, but I don't recall ever hearing the TV reference until I stumbled onto the internet back around 95 or so. From reading the first responses to this thread I'm not alone. It's stuff like this makes me feel older than dirt. ;)
