Ok, good. I've done this already in a dark room too just to be sure. No blue at all.

Somebody else on YouTube has a CT-100 as well, and theirs tested out exactly the same as mine on their tester, even at reduced heater voltage. This is probably a low hour CRT.

Sometimes these buggers do what they are supposed to and don't leak!
It's something we all hope for when finding a '54 set.

*150

Pete Deksnis 04-24-2013 10:10 AM

It's 152 on the CT-100 Living List...

trojanrabbit 04-24-2013 11:23 AM

Looks like one will be available very soon.

I went to Manhattan some years ago to see Elli Buk and that CT-100. I did 'see' it. We couldn't get anywhere near the set, what with all the 'stuff' he had packed into that second floor treasure vault of his. So I don't know the serial number. The set is on the list though. Does anyone know what happened? Is it sold? I'd like to run down the serial number....

Zenith6S321 04-28-2013 06:32 PM

It sold for $900. Here is a link:

No idea who got it.

It also had the instructions paper you find behind the knobs when new. It was sitting on top of the set. Set was really clean.

If it weren't for the distance to drive and the buyers premium, that would have been my set. 900 bucks is a steal for one in that condition. Looks like that auction was a lot of fun to attend.

The CRT might've replaced at a later date.
IIRC, those CRT's were available as late as the mid-60's.
They were rather pricey back then.

A thought from Daves brain.

The tube has been mounted in the cabinet all this time and is still good. Would it be prudent to leave it alone and not handle it, lay it on its side, etc, or put and new or different stress on the infamous metal to glass joint that seems to be the achilles tendon of the 15gp CRT. Seems like short lived and failures seem to happen after installs, storage, swaps, etc.
This tubes condition seems truly remarkable for its age. Just sayin.

If you use ordinary care when handling it, I wouldn't be too terrified that it's going to suddenly fail. The two 15GP22s that I got with my CT-100 have survived being handled & moved around during the course of restoration -- not to mention riding from central California to Washington state in the back of a moving van when I bought the set. Last year, I bought a TM-10 monitor with a 15GP22 and that one is fine after being shipped halfway across the USA on a pallet.

Phil, did you get your CT100 from a guy named Dan in Oceano?

Phil Nelson 05-03-2013 11:56 PM

No, a guy named Len.
