Tube shields

Would adding tube shields to tubes the set was not designed to have help/hurt/make no difference? Seems like shielding a tube would make it less sensitive to stray noise. But it also might increase its internal temperature, is that a good or bad thing? Or does it really not make much difference? Opinions?

If it's not noisy to begin with, you stand nothing to gain. On the other hand it probably won't hurt anything either...

I think this falls into the "leave well enuf alone"
category. If it made a real difference the premium
brands would have done it. Also high end coms gear
would do it but you will see plenty of necked tubs in
that stuff.
