I did not know that RCA had sets in an Oriental sytle of cabinetry - I thought Zenith, and Stromberg-carlson in the 50's, were the only manufacturers to produce such sets.

RCA and Zenith sure produced some great looking, and performing, sets during their glory days.

Those high boy armoires are sure better looking than the crappy, boxy looking particle board and MDF vinyl clad empty shells one finds today at furniture and discount houses.

A 1967 RCA "Consolette" -- beautifully restored!
 

Every once in awhile, an eBay purchase turns out even better than expected.
I found one of the 25-inch RCA "consolettes" (popularly-priced consoles) from the 1967 brochure on this thread. It has been professionally restored, and is in remarkably good condition considering that it's a Chicago-area estate sale find -- originally.

The RCA "Endicott" model from RCA's 1967 line features a vaguely Scandinavian design and (sort of) swivels.

Purchased for about $200 from a Milwaukee collector (who had a basement full of similar models), this restored beauty has a marvelous picture tube and enjoyed playing a little "Back to the Future"!

And a NICE set too--though NOT my favorite cabinet style. I MUCH rather have the floor style cabinet...-

In 1967 who was actually broadcasting color other than the US? (Canada? Japan?)

Europe would start going over to colour in 67/68 so the scale of the brochure and the number of sets certainly says something about the US in 1967!

As for the RCAGuys lovely Emerson ..drool.... I imagine football looks pretty cool on it as well!!

Thanks for scanning this. I saw the 25" oriental version on Craigslist in Chicago a few months ago. .I should have nabbed it. I didn't know if it was factory or someone had put a table chassis in a custom cabinet..

Mexico had electronic color television from 1963 or 1964 and Philipines from 1966.
In 1967 "R.C.A." still made color roundies?

According to the brochure in the first post, they sure did. Some brands made roundys until 1973 I've heard....The CRTs, and deflection parts were cheap and plentiful then, and cheap 'loss leader' models to get people in the doors were good for dealers, so they made them as cheap sets.

I'm curios, those big cabinet models what price would have in todays money; I guess more then 15,000 dollars. And how heavy they where?

Magnavox had Oriental (Far Eastern Contemporary) television cabinets, and stereo consoles in black lacquer, or walnut finish. The ones in the RCA Victor brochure are stunning. Thanks for sharing this with us!
