Admiral control door

Hi, does anybody knows where I can find a replacement control access door to this 1953 Admiral bakelite set? Or at least, does anyone have a picture of such a door, so I can try to make a replica?

Man those things musy have been really flimsy because they are always missing!
I think they were reverse painted plastic and would be hard to reproduce :( Eric |

I have almost the exact same set, and Eric is right, door is missing! However I have another Admiral which has a door that measures the same size and has the same mount, but is the reversed painted plastic because the set is like that. Also it is a vertical door but I bet you could extrapolate a close approximation to the original from it. My set that is missing the door is just brown plastic for the adjacent components. Hope this helps! http://home.earthlink.net/~marlinmackley/addoor.JPG Marlin |
Marlin,
Thanks for your picture, it´s similar to a door I saw in an Admiral ad of the same era, so I believe it´s a good example of what that door have looked like when my TV was new. Eric is right, those things were terrible, because I have a friend who has three sets of that same model, and none of them have that door! |
doorless in Admiral city
Well, I picked up another Admiral that was also missing that same door. Looks like the demand might be enough for a repro effort.
