Just finished recapping a Philco # 49-1278. Next time I will check the power transformer -- turns out it is cremated.
Hope someone has one to trade for something.
Philco's # is: 32-8376 but a Stancor # P-8157 can be made to work.
This transformer also fits several other '49 Philcos (-1040, -1076, -1077,
-1175, -1240, -1279, -1280).
I have a good 7JP4 and other stuff I can trade.
HELP.............

I know this is a lousy answer but keep an eye out on ebay. I had the same problem with my Admiral Cosolette hv windings where short. All it would do is proudce heat and smoke. It uses an odd transformer in that it has two hv windings. I even started to build a p/s for it using what I had on hand which ended up with three power transformers to create the right voltages. About the time I had gotten everything mounted the Stancor recplacement showed up on ebay.
You may want to post the specs so others can take a look for something that may work.

Thanks for input. This xformer is used in most of the '49 Philco sets, those using both the 5U4/7Z4 rectifiers -- don't think it was used in earlier or later year models which used either one or two 5U4s. I check ebay often with hopes something will turn up.....................
